Famous Kazakh artist, born in 1970 in Tselinograd. In 1993 he graduated from the Art College named after O. Tansykbayev, Almaty.
In 2004 he participated in the International youth competition "Shabyt". In 2005 he was the lead author of the project "Heritage of Ancestors". In 2006 he was engaged in sculptural decoration of water-green Boulevard of Astana.
In 2010 the works were presented at the exhibition in the Museum of the First President. In 2011 he participated in the exhibition in The Russian centre of culture. Since 2012 he is a member of the Union of artists of Kazakhstan. Abay was a participant of the exhibition dedicated to the Independence Day of Kazakhstan.
In 2014 he was awarded a gold badge in the watercolour plein air competition, dedicated to the 110th anniversary of A. Kasteev.
In 2015 he participated in the international Symposium “Bridge of culture” Istanbul-Astana. In the same year, there was an exhibition of paintings and drawings, organized for the 550th anniversary of the Kazakh Khanate.
In 2016, the Abai Chunchalinov was one of the artists whose works were presented at the International Biennale in Astana.
In 2017, he organized a personal exhibition at the Military History Museum of Astana.
In 2017, he was awarded the honorary badge "Kurmet".
His paintings are in the state national Museum of Kazakhstan, in private collections in Kazakhstan, Russia, England, Canada and Turkey.
